VW Passat Lingyu FCV

The Volkswagen Passat Lingyu FCV or actually 20 such vehicles were built in the summer of 2008 to be presented at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Volkswagen Passat Lingyu fuel cell has been the result of a collaboration among Shanghai VW Automotive Company, Tongji University and the Shanghai Fuel Cell Vehicle Powertrain Company.

Hydrogen Generator Plan for CARS
Insider Information Revealed on this controversial new Hydrogen Boosting Method Advocates say Increases Gas Mileage and Reduces Emissions.

The Volkswagen Passat Lingyu FCV was the first Chinese made hydrogen fuel cell vehicle when it appeared in the United States at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November 2008. Based upon the standard VW Passat Lingyu, the fuel cell version may appear in production as early as 2010.

While 20 Lingyu FCV's have been produced, 16 of these have been imported into the U. S. for demonstration and ride and drive promotions. In February 2009, the Volkswagen Passat Lingyu FCV joined the California Fuel Cell Partnership in Sacramento, CA.

At the end of March 2009, the Passat Lingyu FCV may be shown at the National Hydrogen Association Conference and Expo in Columbia, South Carolina. It may also be available for ride and drives over a two day period.

The Volkswagen Passat Lingyu FCV has a range of 146 miles and can accelerate up to 90 mph. With over 50,000 miles of road testing under its belt, the Volkswagen Passat Lingyu FCV will undergo further highway and street testing in Northern California.

Other Volkswagen fuel cell vehicles include the VW Touran HyMotion, Tiguan HyMotion, Volkswagen Space Up Blue, Audi A2H2 and Caddy Maxi FCEV.
