UK Hydrogen
Highway
The proposed United Kingdom Hydrogen Highway system is actually
two separate highway systems in the north
and south
of the UK. The northern system is proposed for the east side of
Scotland. The southern system is proposed for South Wales.
Here is a detailed map of the North
UK Hydrogen Highway and here is a detailed map of the South
UK Hydrogen Highway. The northern system proposing building
hydrogen fueling stations in the cities of Bridge of Don (just
north of Aberdeen), Ellon and Peterhead.
In South Wales, the proposed hydrogen refueling stations upon
the M4 freeway have not been disclosed yet, but most likely at
least one will be placed at the University of Glamorgan in Port
Talbot. Others are said to be in the towns of Swansea, Cardiff
and Newport.
Other proposed hydrogen fueling stations in South England include
Swindon and London and then up to the Midlands, most likely around
the Birmingham area. As I had noted in the website's blog, if
Great Britain were to put up six additional hydrogen fueling stations
in cities like Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Edinburgh
and Glasgow then hydrogen car drivers could drive north to south
with little fears of running out of hydrogen
fuel.
It is yet to be seen, however if this plan for a UK Hydrogen
Highway comes to fruition. The plans are in the works, so stayed
tuned to see how the building of this system takes place.
