Department of Transportation Certifies Santa’s Sleigh as FCV

Well, I hate to say, “I told you so”, but on December 6 I did just that. In the very last paragraph of the blog entry I mentioned how Santa’s sleigh my one day be powered by hydrogen.

The U. S. Department of Transportation has now officially designated Santa’s sleigh as a hybrid hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. The sleigh can run off either tiny little reindeer power or by using a clean, green quiet hydrogen fuel cell.

Yesterday, U. S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters announced that Santa’s sleigh was safe to operate in U. S. airspace this holiday season. She declared the onboard fuel cell was sufficient enough to propel the jolly fatman against the jet stream so that he may complete his mission in one night.

So, it has finally happened. The big red guy has gone green so the rest of us won’t be blue this holiday season. Now, that’s the spirit!
