The BlueZero F-cell is a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle that has been unveiled at the same time as its all electric counterpart, the E-cell and the plug-in hybrid electric counterpart, the E-Plus Cell.

The Mercedes-Benz BlueZero F-Cell has the styling of a B-Class model and if the FCV option is chosen, the vehicle will be equipped with a 90 kw fuel cell that will achieve approximately 81 mpg-e (miles per gallon equivalent).

The Mercedes BlueZero F-Cell will also be able to achieve a 240 mile range, which is double the range of the EV-only version of the same vehicle. The BlueZero F-Cell uses a modular design that sandwiches fuel cell components underneath the floorboard.

The sandwich component design keep the weight low to the ground, which increases handling ability of the vehicle and decreases the likelihood of rollover. The 5-seat, front wheel drive Mercedes BlueZero F-Cell will begin small scale commercial production in late 2009.

The acceleration from 0 to 60 mph for the BlueZero F-Cell is under 11 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 90 mph. The BlueZero F-Cell carries 20-inch wheels with low friction tires. Other Mercedes fuel cell cars include the B-Class F-Cell and the F600 Hygenius.
