Hydrogen Minibuses Busting a Move

September 25, 2007 | By Hydro Kevin Kantola | Filed in: Hydrogen Buses, Hydrogen Vehicles.

Hydrogen minibuses are busting a move this week as one in the United Kingdom and one in the United States have staked separate claims. In Wales, there is a 16-seat minibus causing a stir that is powered by hydrogen fuel cell. This minibus was created by researchers at the University of Glamorgan and will be on display at the 10th Annual Grove Fuel Cell Symposium in London starting today through September 27, 2007.

In the U. S., H2 Engine Systems has modified a minibus running on biofuel to spike it with hydrogen to increase performance. For testing purposes, compressed hydrogen gas was used, which was contained in a tank in the vehicle. But, for the future, hydrogen may be created on demand via electrolysis of water.

So, hop on the minibus, Gus and drop off the key, Lee as hydrogen will set yourself free (with apologies to Paul Simon).
