Southern Californians Test Driving Hydrogen Cars Today

The California Road Rally 2006 is a chance for those in Southern California to test drive eight different hydrogen cars starting yesterday and continuing through Saturday. Orange County residents were treated to a public ride & drive on Thursday at the Orange County Auto Show 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

Today, there is a public ride and drive at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center from 9 am through 3 pm in Torrance, California. On Saturday, the road rally travels down the I-5 to Coronado Island in San Diego, for a two-day ride and drive between 9 am and 5 pm each day.

The eight hydrogen cars and vehicles that are available for a ride & drive include: Toyota FCHV, Nissan X-Trail FCV, Kia Sportage FCEV, Mercedes F-Cell, GM Chevy Equinox FC, Honda FCX, Volkswagen Hymotion and the Ford Focus FCV.

Pictured in the photo above is the GM Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell SUV taken at the Orange County Auto Show. GM has announced that it will roll out 100 of the Equinoxes in the third quarter of 2007.
