Norway’s Hydrogen Highway Rolling Out H2 Priuses

Over the weekend, I posted a couple of articles about two Norwegian hydrogen cars, the Th!nk Nordic the Th!nk FC5. Today, Quantum Fuel Systems from Irvine, California has announced that they will be selling 15 Toyota Prius hydrogen hybrid vehicles to Miljobil Grenland AS, which is a participant in the HyNor (Norwegian Hydrogen Highway) project.

HyNor is a Norwegian joint industry initiative between the public and private sectors. This joint venture, taking place between 2005 and 2008 is geared towards building a hydrogen highway infrastructure along 360 miles of roadway between Oslo to Stavanger. The project includes hydrogen production, distribution and use in various hydrogen vehicles such as cars, buses and taxis.

Leave it to the Norwegians and that Viking spirit to lead the way into a new world of hydrogen technology. Just like Brazil has now become an “Ethanol Nation”, Norway may become the first “Hydrogen Nation” that will serve as a model for other countries who wish to step into a cleaner and greener future.
