Mizzou Hydrogen Car Team Readies for Shell Eco-Marathon

The 2012 Shell Eco-Marathon will take place this year in Houston, TX from March 29 – April 1, 2012 – and this is no joke. This year the Mizzou Hydrogen Car Team will compete in one of the races with their third generation TigerGen III.

The MU team has chosen to compete in the UrbanConcept category since this may help the graduates find employment after graduation. Last year the TigerGen II was the only car to compete in this category and of course won.

The second generation TigerGen won with a 476 mpg equivalent of gasoline. This year the MU Team hopes that the TigerGen III will break the 500 mpg equivalent mark. This year, however will not be a walk in the park for the Mizzou Hydrogen Car Team.

They will have competition from Teams from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne, University of Alberta, Canada and University of Houston. Fifteen students will be traveling to Houston during Spring Break this year in order to compete.
