hyundai tucson ixLast March 2010, I had talked about the Hyundai Tucson iX35 FCEV rolling out at the Geneva Auto Show. The most recent news regarding this vehicle is that the prototype is now ready and will begin testing in 2011.

The Tucson iX is an upgrade from the Hyundai Tucson FCEV with a 3rd generation fuel cell and longer range. In fact the Tucson ix has a range of over 400 miles which puts it almost at the top in range of fuel cell vehicles (the Toyota FCHV-adv gets over 500 miles in some tests).

The Tucson iX gets approximately 73 mpg and 95-percent of the parts were manufactured in Korea. The Hyundai Tucson iX will go into limited production in 2012 and in full production in 2015.
