The Ford Explorer Fuel Cell SUV is going to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show this coming Wednesday and Thursday, during the Press Days portion of the conference. Members of the media will receive the privilege of driving Ford’s newest fuel cell prototype. The Ford Focus FCV is the only other fuel cell vehicle that Ford is currently demonstrating.

The Ford Explorer Fuel Cell SUV boasts a longer driving range that most other fuel cell vehicles, passenger room for six people and electric all-wheel-drive motoring capability. The hydrogen storage tanks are placed in the center of the vehicle where the transmission on the standard Explorer SUV would be, without sacrificing passenger room.

The other hydrogen car being demonstrated at the L. A. Auto Show during Press Days is the BMW Hydrogen 7 dual-fuel gasoline-hydrogen luxury automobile.
