Kids 4 Hydrogen End California Road Tour

August 20, 2013 | By Hydro Kevin Kantola | Filed in: Advocates.

Kids 4 Hydrogen is a non-profit educational outreach program started in 2004. Based in Northern California, in the Santa Cruz area, they have this to say about themselves, “By giving demonstrations of how fuel cells work and presenting the hydrogen fuel cell vehicles on well-publicized tours, we hope to encourage people to get on our waiting list to purchase fuel cell vehicles to move towards a sustainable hydrogen economy.”

And one of these well-publicized road tours has just ended on August 18, 2013 in Palo Alto, California with the returning of the Mercedes F-Cell that they had been borrowing for the California trip.

But, the trip actually started on August 11, 2013 at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park in San Diego, CA where they were interviewed by NBC Channel 7 News. From there, the Kids 4 Hydrogen campaign moved north to Los Angeles to put on a demonstration at Petersen’s Automotive Museum.

Also on the agenda around Los Angeles was refueling at LAX Airport and putting on another demonstration at the Santa Monica Place. After a little rest, the group moved on to Sacramento and San Francisco.

They fueled up in Emeryville, then headed to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose where one of the participants conducted a bilingual interview in Mandarin and English. From there it was off to Santa Cruz, an end of tour party and the returning of the car to Palo Alto.
