Hydrogen Fuel Cars 2010 – 2011

This page features hydrogen fuel cars that have been shown in the year 2010. Most of the hydrogen fuel cell cars and H2ICE vehicles on this page are prototypes, though some may be test vehicles as well.

2011

The Daihatsu FC Sho Case is a futuristic concept vehicle that runs on hydrogen fuel cell. The Daihatsu FC Sho Case seats 4 people and has a 60-inch TV inside.
The Toyota FCV-R was introduced at the 2012 Tokyo Motor Show. The FCV-R contains a 10,000 psi hydrogen tank and said to have a driving range of over 400 miles. The car is supposed to be available for sale in 2015 with a price of around $125,000 though this may be a highball figure.
The Microcab H2EV has a 3 kW fuel cell that can run for 120 miles before refueling. The body of the Microcab H2EV was designed by Microcab, Delta motorsport and Lotus.
The New Holland NH2 has been shown around for a couple of years and now it heads for the farm. The fuel cell has been upgraded from 2009, from 67 hp to 135 hp and now has 887 lb. ft. of torque.
The Mercedes F125 was introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show in Germany. The Mercedes F125 has a 231 hp hydrogen fuel cell stack, can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds and achieves around 74 miles per gallon equivalent.
The Audi Q5 Hybrid Fuel Cell or HFC was introduced in Berlin, Germany in May 2011. The Audi Q5 HFC has a 98 kw PEM fuel cell and a 1.3 kwh lithium ion battery pack.
The Hyundai Blue2 FCEV was introduced in 2011 using the next generation 90 kW fuel cell. The Hyundai Blue2 has an efficiency rating of 82 mpge and side view cameras.

 

2010

The Plug Power forklift sold to Sysco Corporation in Houston, TX was the first commercial production hydrogen fuel cell vehicle in history.
The Smith Edison HyRange was presented at the 2010 Hannover Messe in Germany as an electric vehicle with a Proton Motor fuel cell range extender.
The 2010 SFC fuel cell electric car was presented at the 2010 Hannover Messe. The SFC car employs an EFOY fuel cell plus Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system.
The BMW Series 1 Hydrogen Hybrid electric car is a fuel cell vehicle that was unveiled in Munich, Germany in 2010. The vehicle contains both a UTC fuel cell and small four cylinder gasoline engine.
The Riversimple Hyrban is powered by a 6 kw Horizon fuel cell. Some of the design plans are published on the Internet making this the first Open Source fuel cell vehicle that will be designed by collaboration.
The Mercedes Benz F800 Concept was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. The Mercedes Benz F800 Concept uses a hydrogen fuel cell, 100 kw electric motor and has a range of around 370 miles.
The Hyundai Tucson ix35 FCEV was shown off at the 2010 Geneva Auto Show. The car featured that latest fuel cell technology with an eye towards full production in 2012.
