I didn’t go to the Huffington Post directly. I found this particular blog post through the search engines while looking for stories on hydrogen. The post is called, “What Happened to Hydrogen?” and was written by Andrew J. Nusca.
Like many, Mr. Nusca says he hadn’t heard much about hydrogen cars since the 2003 State of […]

They may not be as sexy as hydrogen cars parading down the road from one green event to the next with photo ops with congressmen and governors, but some less glamorous hydrogen vehicles are also starting to grab the public’s attention.
For instance, lawnmower-maker Toro has paraded out its hydrogen-powered Workman utility vehicle at the Minnesota […]

Rochester, New York, the home to Rochester Institute of Technology and Eastman Kodak and voted the 6th best place to live in the U. S. is now vying to become the country’s first “Hydrogen Village”. And, the hydrogen village people couldn’t be happier.
Now, there may not be an Indian chief dancing around singing “Y.M.C.A.”, but […]

I’d like to follow up on a post that I had made in May about the Purdue University researchers discovering that using an alloy of the metals gallium and aluminum with water create hydrogen. This reaction creates hydrogen-on-demand with little degradation of the alloy. This is because the gallium defends against oxidation on the surface.
The […]

The Smart Car has decided to get smarter and run on fuel cells instead of gasoline or diesel engines. The Smart Car, developed by Swatch, manufactured by DaimlerChrysler and imported into the U. S. by Zap is a squashed version of the Volkswagen Bug in size and appearance.
Currently there are three models including the Smart […]

Okay, I’ll admit it’s a bit of a stretch talking about a hydrogen-powered bionic arm on a hydrogen car website. Be that as it may, this story grabbed by attention as another mechanical device I hadn’t thought about that could be powered by the most abundant element in the universe.
Researchers at Vanderbilt University have developed […]

Yesterday, I was contacted by Michael Jehan from MCP technologies who said his company has developed a novel magnesium hydride storage solution for hydrogen to be used in automobiles with internal combustion engines (ICE). The MgH2 solution uses nano-structure powders to absorb the hydrogen then release it as needed for the vehicle.
I asked Mr. Jehan […]

Over the past couple of months, I’ve talked about how ammonia-fueled cars may be the hydrogen cars of the future. Ammonia is a hydrogen-rich chemical compound that when activated is able to release its hydrogen to a fuel cell to power a vehicle.
Ammonia is now back in the news as a hydrogen-storage method that can […]

In Sunnyvale, California in the heart of Silicon Valley, major high-tech company Fujitsu has gone even higher tech by powering their facility with a hydrogen generator. The 200 kw UTC Power fuel cell provides approximately half the power to their data center providing reliable off-the-grid energy that is important to many tech companies concerned with […]

In Victoria, British Columbia, BC Transit has been awarded a contract to produce 20 hydrogen buses. These hybrid electric fuel cell buses will help the province cut greenhouse gases by the target of 33-percent by the year 2020.
The $46.4 million contract was presented to New Flyer Industries of Winnipeg. The hydrogen buses are expected to […]
